The new school year is almost upon us!!
Believe it or not, the beginning of the year is always the best time for me because I feel I can be more organized for each year. My newest idea for setting up my classroom is to align a bulletin board with the Common Core SS to both promote goals and reflect achievements!!
|I don't have access to my classroom but I would rather make a bigger trunk with brown butcher paper. :)|
I will begin this year with a blank bulletin board based on a classroom theme. I will introduce pieces of the bulletin board when we review our learning objectives each week because in our classroom we use PDSA boards (more info here) so the students know their learning expectations.
I haven't decided which theme I will implement yet but I have 3 in mind: a tree of knowledge (with either acorns or apples), a sports theme (I've done before), or a space theme (because we are a NASA school and our mascot is the Explorers).
As the students complete each cycle of learning, I will have them add the piece with the standard labeled to the blank bulletin board so by the end of the year it is a beautiful scene of goals accomplished and learning achieved!
The sports theme would be easiest to align with leadership goals and the 7 Habits!
I know parents would love to see this progression throughout their visits as well. :)
Wouldn't the kids have fun reaching for the stars? Lol
|My favorite I think for this year :)|
Since teachers' time and resources are limited and valuable so I tried to make the display boards I created inexpensive ($3 each). Please visit my TpT store to find one that suits your classroom. Thank you and have a great year!!
